2009-2010 Scholarships
Deadline for Application Submission was 12pm (noon) Friday, April 3rd, 2009.
Scholarships for the College of Business and Economics are available to students of pre-major and full-major status in all college departments and are awarded based on scholarship criteria. The completion of one scholarship application is sufficient to be considered for each scholarship where the criteria established by donors are met. This includes scholarships that are specific to majors/concentrations and minority status.
Boeing Business Scholarship. One scholarship is awarded to a College of Business and Economics major. Selection is based on academic achievement, an expressed interest in industry/private accounting, community service and/or outside activities, and residence within the Pacific Northwest.
The Bruce Shelton Endowment. Scholarships awarded to graduates of Whatcom Community College or Skagit Valley College studying for an undergraduate business degree.
CBE Alumni Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to CBE students with junior or senior status who have demonstrated academic achievement. The amount and number of scholarships awarded varies from year to year.
Frank C. Brooks Family Scholarship. Up to three scholarships are awarded to a declared major of the College of Business and Economics who is a full-time student. Recipients must be working toward their first baccalaureate degree, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need. Recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to reapply for a second-year scholarship and shall be given preference if minimum requirements are met. Students receiving the scholarships for the second year may be undergraduates or graduate students.
Lars & Elaine Giusti Scholarship for Business. One scholarship established by Lars and Elaine Giusti, awarded to a CBE student who is a U.S. citizen and Washington state resident with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better and has financial need. Additional criteria include a preference for a first generation college student (neither parents have an undergraduate degree or higher), a demonstration of student's passions, leadership potential for the field of business through participation in internships, leadership lunches or related work experience. Applicants shall provide a recommendation letter from one instructor or teacher.
Horizon Bank Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to CBE students with junior or senior status who demonstrate scholastic achievement. Preference will be given to students who are varsity athletes.
Parks Scholarship. One scholarship is available to CBE students with junior or senior status. Selection is based on academic performance.
Peoples Bank Scholarship – LeCocq Family Scholarships. One scholarship established by the Irwin and Frances LeCocq family, awarded to CBE majors from Whatcom County who are in their junior year and have academic standing in the upper quartile of their CBE class. Criteria include the demonstration financial need, exceptional merit, extracurricular activities and leadership potential.
Shaun and Darcie Wolfe Family Scholarship. One scholarship is available to undergraduate majors in the College of Business and Economics in good academic standing in accordance with CBE guidelines. Students shall be asked to articulate how in addition to their major in the CBE, their second focused area of study and/or significant work experience will benefit his/her career goals.
U.S. Bank Minority Scholarships. Five scholarships are awarded to undergraduate majors in the College of Business and Economics. Recipients must be a declared major in the College of Business and Economics, a member of an ethnic minority group, have a permanent residence in a community served by U.S. Bank and demonstrate strong academic merit and potential. This scholarship is privately funded.
ASWA North Cascades Chapter Scholarship. The North Cascades Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants offers scholarships to students who are declared accounting majors with junior status, enrolled full time and demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.
Curnow Accounting Scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded to a declared major in Accounting (either undergraduate or MPAcc) who intends to work in public accounting and preference will be given to students making a career change or re-entering the work force. Qualification is not tied to GPA or academic performance.
Deloitte & Touche Accounting Scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded to accounting majors who show evidence of scholarship and service.
Harrington Family Accounting Scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded to accounting students entering the graduate program to satisfy the fifth year requirement for CPA certification.
Harrington Family Accounting Recruitment Scholarship. One scholarship shall be awarded to Freshmen in the CBE Distinguished Scholars Program wanting to pursue accounting as their field of study.
Shintaffer Family Endowment. Two scholarships are awarded to accounting majors from Whatcom County who maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA.
DSCI Department Scholarship. This scholarship was established by contributions from faculty and staff of the Department of Decision Sciences. Multiple scholarships, are awarded annually, to business administration majors with a concentration in management information systems. Criteria include academic performance, junior or senior status, and a minimum of 24 credits remaining to complete the student's degree requirements in the academic year in which the student receives the award.
Kristine Worland MIS Scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded to a College of Business and Economics student whose concentration is Management Information Systems. Recipient must be in good academic standing in accordance with the College of Business and Economics guidelines. Preference will be given to a female student with the greatest financial need.
Claire and Erwin Mayer Scholarship. This scholarship was established by Erwin Mayer, professor emeritus of economics. Two scholarships will be awarded annually, dependent upon funding. Criteria include status as a junior or senior majoring in the Department of Economics, minimum 3.5 GPA and financial need.
Settlemyer Family Graduate Fellowship. This scholarship is awarded to a masters student majoring in Economics who has a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and demonstrates financial need.
CBE/FMA Scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded to a Business Administration major with a concentration in Finance and Financial Economics. Criteria include academic performance, junior or senior status, and a minimum of 24 credits remaining to complete the student's degree requirements in the academic year in which the student received the award.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
The Dr. Steven Globerman International Scholarship Award
. One scholarship will be awarded to a College of Business and Economics undergraduate or graduate student. Criteria include that the scholarship have an international scholastic experience abroad including but not limited to: attending an international educational conference; supporting an educational internship abroad; and study abroad at an accredited academic institution. The recipient must be in good academic standing in accordance with CBE guidelines.The International Business Scholarship Award. Any International Business concentration student who wants to study abroad in a WWU approved program can apply for one of these scholarships. The size of scholarships will depend on the number of people who apply and the quality of the application pool.
Jeld-Wen Scholarship. Two scholarships will be awarded to business administration majors with concentrations in management. Criteria include full-time enrollment, academic performance, and merit. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need and who are from Washington State communities in which a Jeld-Wen facility exists.
MANUFACTURING MANAGEMENT & PRODUCTION OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Amgen Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management degree program. Criteria for selection includes exceptional scholastic ability, demonstrated financial need, and enrollment in the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management program
Boeing Company Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded annually to students enrolled in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management or Operations Management. Criteria for selection include scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need.
Crane Aerospace Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management degree program. Criteria for selection includes exceptional scholastic ability, demonstrated financial need, and enrollment in the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management program.
Fluke Corporation Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management degree program. Criteria for selection includes exceptional scholastic ability, demonstrated financial need, and enrollment in the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management program
Intermec Technologies Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Scholarship. One scholarship is awarded to a student currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management program. Criteria for selection include scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need.
MM/OM Alumni Scholarship. One scholarship is awarded to a Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management or Operations Management student. Scholarship will be annual and based on alumni funding. Criteria for selection includes scholastic ability, demonstrated financial need, and contributions to the Western programs.
Manufacturing and Operations Management Advisory Board Scholarships. These scholarships are offered to Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management students with demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and clear leadership in supporting the program. The amount and number of scholarships awarded varies from year to year based on need and funding available.
Medtronic ERS Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management degree program. Criteria for selection includes exceptional scholastic ability, demonstrated financial need, and enrollment in the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management program
Seattle APICS Scholarship. One scholarship is awarded annually to a student enrolled in Manufacturing Management or Operations Management. Criteria for selection include scholastic ability, active involvement in the student APICS organization, and financial need.
Oliver Wight Scholarship for Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management. One scholarship is awarded to students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management program. Criteria for selection include scholastic ability and demonstrated financial need.
